Building and equipping a global network of human rights champions to combat fakes, lies and falsehoods

In the internet age, disinformation travels further and faster than ever before. The EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) asked us to help tackle this toxic rising tide.

We advised on how to boost membership and engagement of FRA’s Human Rights Communicators Network, a global community of comms professionals.

Then, we helped brand and run annual two-day, in-person network meetings. These events provided a platform to share ideas and best practices.

Drawing on the advice from the assembled world-leading experts, we produced an essential guide to the dos and don’ts of dealing with disinformation.

From this, we storyboarded, scripted and produced a short film offering clear, practical advice on how to deal with disinformation.

The results

We helped FRA build and maintain an engaged online community of 500+ global human rights communications professionals.

FRA offers our guide to dealing with disinformation as a free download to its millions of online visitors.

It formed the centrepiece of a social media campaign shared by the EU Ministry of Home Affairs and Europol along with leading policy affairs think tanks and influencers.

Dear network, I am happy to share a practical (3 minutes only!) video-guide of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights on how to go about tackling disinformation, called: Positive I.N.P.U.T. A strong reminder that in our #communications: +: Positive messages of hope have the most impact. I: Identify disinformation early and ask 'who benefits'? N: Narrate powerful, personal, persuasive stories. P: Pioneer new ways to reach new audiences. U: Unite your audience. Messengers matter. Form partnerships. T: Track and plan ahead. Try to get in front of the news cycle. Proud of my colleagues who have set this up and great to see this in line and making good use of the revamped 10 keys to effectively communicating #humanrights https://lnkd.in/evdRviTN So let’s talk. What do you think of the guide? #infodemic #disinformation #effectivecommunications
